Our sweet Mother, Dorothy Thelma Bloomfield, passed away early Thursday, May 5, 2016. Dorothy was born March 19, 1923, to Nellie Ardell Warren and George Edward Parkes.
Dorothy lived all 93 years in Meeker and Rio Blanco County. She married Charles William Bloomfield (predeceased 1999) at St. James Church and the family ranch on Flag Creek on April 21, 1946. They bought the ranch on the mesa and raised three children. Edward, married to Carolyn, lives in Kearney, Neb.; Anne, married to Ed Foster, lives in Grand Junction, Colo.; and James (predeceased both Dorothy and Charlie in September 1997).
Dorothy is survived by five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren: Robert Foster, married to Tina, have twins, Peyton and Logan, and live in Snohomish, Wash.; James Foster, married to Cherylynne, has one son, Chase, and they live in Thornton, Colo.; Grant Bloomfield has two children, Nicholas and Emily, and he lives in Kearney, Neb.; Amber Bloomfield, married to Serge Blok, has two boys, Henry and Jason, and lives in Silver Springs, Md.; Tandy Bloomfield is married to Masha, and they have a little girl, Lily. He is in the U.S. Air Force and is stationed at Alamogordo, N.M.
Dorothy also had one brother, Tom ( predeceased 1999); three sisters: Elizabeth, (predeceased), Norma, who lives in Meeker Colo., and Margaret, married to Bill Crawford, and they live in Castle Rock, Colo.; and Naomi Parkes (sister- law) who lives in Sun Lakes, Ariz. There are also several nieces and nephews from Meeker and the area, and many, many, friends and neighbors, especially at the Fairfield Center.
Dorothy was a life member of Eastern Star.
