Oct. 3, 1937 ~ Jan. 20, 2024
Joan (Joanie) Alice Emmett Dyer passed away peacefully on Jan. 20, 2024, at the age of 86 at Rangely District Hospital in Rangely, Colorado. Joan was born on Oct. 3, 1937, in Fall River, Massachusetts, to George Arthur and Grace Blakney Emmett.
When she was 16-years-old her father moved his family to California, where Joan later met Billy Dee Dyer Sr. They were married on Jan. 27, 1957. Bill had a daughter from a previous marriage named Linda Lee Dyer. Bill and Joan later had Billy Dee Dyer Jr., Debra Lynn Dyer, and Daniel Bruce Dyer. Bill and Joan divorced after 25 years of marriage.
Joan loved Jesus, her family and going to church. She enjoyed doing yard work and working in her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. She was very artistic. She did drawings, oil paintings, sewing and cake decorating. She took a college course for cake decorating and decorated cakes for all occasions and for family and others throughout Sutherlin, Oregon, and Rangely, Colorado. Joan also enjoyed playing bingo and Skip-Bo with her friends.
She prayed for and with many hurting people throughout her life and also fed the hungry. When she prayed and spoke in tongues, prayers were answered. She was a warrior and an intercessor of God.
Joan’s legacy will live on through her children and their children’s children.
