March 13, 1939 ~ Nov. 3, 2025
Kenneth Lee Idol was born on March 13, 1939 to Loren and Lana Idol in Meeker, Colorado.
He graduated from RBCHS and was active on the basketball, football and track teams. He was the 1957 recipient of the Bausch-Lomb Science Award and then attended Colorado State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business.
At a fraternity social event, he met Carol (Sukey) Peck. They soon wed and welcomed their first child, Cynthia Idol, in 1961.
Upon graduating from college, Ken was employed as a manager for Woolworth drug store.
In 1966, the Idol family moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where Ken pursued a career as a stock broker. As his career flourished, they decided to move the family to Richmond, Virginia, where he became a commodities broker. After establishing a commodities office at his firm, he transferred to Fort Worth, Texas, to help another firm establish a commodities office. After several years, they relocated back to Omaha where Ken and Sukey became a real estate team.
In 2003, Ken and Sukey moved to Colby, Kansas to be closer to their grandchildren. Ken enjoyed taking the kids fishing, hunting and working on small projects around the house. He loved to travel from town to town, supporting his grandchildren in various sporting events. Ken also loved waking up early to catch a quick nine holes of golf with his wife, Sukey.
Sadly, she unexpectedly passed away in 2022.
Ken Idol passed away peacefully on Nov. 3, 2025 while residing at Hope Springs Nursing Home in Sharon Springs. He is survived by his daughter Cindi (Kevin) Kriss and son Cam Idol; his grandchildren Tanner (Makenzie) Kriss, Konnor (Brayden) Kriss and Karly (Josh) Pearson and six great-grandchildren: Kesslie, Kendall, Kreighton, Bronson, Brynleigh Kriss and Beckett Pearson. He is also survived by four of his five sisters, Polly Idol, Lorna Idol, Pam Idol and Arlene Idol Broadhurst. His sister, Sandra Idol Shimko, predeceased him in 2024.
Rest in peace.
