Obituary – Kyle Thomas Brueggeman

June 16, 1989 ~ Oct. 21, 2023

Kyle Thomas Brueggeman, 34, was born June 16, 1989, in Grand Junction, Colorado, to Mary Cox and William Brueggeman. He finished his journey in this life Oct. 21, 2023, in Grand Junction, Colorado.

He worked at Skyview Acres LLC as a stablehand. Kyle very much enjoyed working with the horses there and getting to know their owners. He would joyfully tell of the antics of animals he would get to see every day.

Kyle was a massive fan of books, anime, video games TV and movies. Amongst some of his favorites were Highlander, Firefly, Girls in Tanks, The Mummy and Disney’s Tarzan. Kyle was the kind who talked in song quotes and movie references. Kyle was an avid reader and could have filled a small library with his book collection.

Kyle had quite the knack of working with his hands, he had the gift of making knives, bushcraft and crafting smoke pipes from scratch when his attention wasn’t attached to the consumption of storytelling in some form. Kyle owned and operated his own forge, making knives out of any spare bits of cast-off metal he could find. He taught himself how to make his own tobacco pipes; he would bring his creations to his mom to look at and grumble that she was too busy smelling the freshly carved and burned wood instead of looking at what he’d created.

Kyle had a rather quirky sense of humor. While growing up he liked pretending he was Godzilla, making the ground shake with each step he took through the house; only the dogs weren’t amused by his antics. Kyle really seemed to enjoy getting a rise out of others and would defend horrible movies as well. Saying “they weren’t that bad,” and that was usually followed by his sister asking if they were talking about the same movie.

Kyle’s gifts of forging, crafting, storytelling and sharing the different sides of life was a gift to all who knew him. His witty nature and unique look at life always kept everyone around him on their toes. He will surely be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Preceding him in death are his grandparents Karl and Nancy Cox (Rienau) of Meeker, Colorado, and Wilbert and Shirley Brueggeman (Nichols) of Loma, Colorado. Also, his step-grandparents, Johnny and Etta Brown of Olathe, Colorado.

Kyle is survived by his parents, Mary (David) Brown of Olathe, Colorado, and William Brueggeman of Olathe, Colorado. His siblings, Bo (Renee) Cox of Pueblo, Colorado; Jerry (Michelle) Cox of Meeker, Colorado; Hollie Brueggeman of Olathe, Colorado; and Michael Parker of Olathe, Colorado. As well as his nieces and nephew, Ashley Cox of Grand Junction, Colorado; Dakota Mercer of Montrose, Colorado; Brenda Gilbreath of Pueblo, Colorado, and Hailey and Brooklyn Cox of Meeker, Colorado. Also surviving Kyle is his most faithful and loving canine, Eddie the Yeti, the most beloved pets he called his little monkey.

Kyle’s celebration of life will take place on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Brown’s Cremation and Funeral Service in Grand Junction, Colorado.

The family asks that any donations be made to the American Diabetes Association as Kyle lived most of his life as a diabetic. We also ask that you please wear your seatbelts. Save your loved ones from heartache and loss.
