OBITUARY – Linda B. Tempel

April 6, 1943 ~ Dec. 1, 2024

Linda B. Tempel passed away peacefully at her home on Dec. 1, 2024. Linda was the daughter of Doretta and Don Bonnawitz, born in Fremont, Nebraska, on April 6, 1943. Linda spent her early years in Fremont, attending elementary school there before moving to Greeley, Colorado, during junior high. She pursued higher education at the University of Colorado, where she became a proud member of Chi Omega and graduated in 1970. Linda’s career as an educator spanned 25 years in the Cherry Creek School District, where she was admired for her incredible organizational skills and dedication to her students. During the 1970s, she lived in Meeker, Colorado, where she owned a unique gift and kitchenware store and co-authored a local cookbook.

Linda had a wide range of interests that enriched her life and brought joy to those around her. She loved jazz, rock music, opera, theater, movies, CU football and basketball, tennis, fishing, reading and traveling — especially to New York City to experience Broadway plays and museums. She also enjoyed jazz cruises and treasured time spent with her four dogs. Linda cultivated deep friendships across all stages of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Buddy, and her husbands: Ted Lebsack and Keith Tempel. A memorial service was held Jan. 6 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Cathedral in St. Martin’s Chapel in Denver, Colorado, with a luncheon following.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Linda’s name to “The Wilderness” service would be greatly appreciated. Linda will be remembered for her vibrant spirit and the many lives she touched. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
