Mabel (May) Margaret Storey, born March 24, 1913 in Greeley, Colo., passed away at Life Care Center of Longmont, Colo., on March 19, 2012. She was surrounded by family and friends. She was raised on a farm in Eaton, Colo., along with eight brothers and sisters. She graduated from Eaton High School and the University of Northern Colorado with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts. She taught fine arts in Wilmington, Del.
She met Henry (Hank) Walter Storey of Greeley and they were married soon thereafter. They eventually settled in Rangely, Colo., in 1947 where they lived until 1959 when they relocated in Lakewood, Colo.
May and Hank traveled throughout the world pursuing their love of archeology and different cultures. She especially loved Mexico and they spent a great deal of time there. She loved languages, speaking French, Spanish and Swedish.
She is survived by a daughter, Carla Givens, a son Alan Storey (May), and a daughter Jula King (Bill), as well as seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren all of whom will sorely miss her.
A memorial service will be held March 22 at 11 a.m. at the Har Hashem Synagogue, 3950 Baseline Road, Boulder, Colo. 80303.
