On Aug. 30, 2015, Mildred Allene Mann née Latham did not die. She walked on, out of this life and welcomed by God our Creator into the next.
Allene, as everyone knew her, was born in Gainesville, Texas, on Nov. 5, 1924. She was graduated from Monahans High School in 1941. Despite spending much of her adult life in other states, she was forever a true Texan at heart. She cooked, kept her home, celebrated and swelled with pride like a true Texan.
On June 5, 1946, she married Cliff Mann. They eventually settled down in Rangely, Colo. At the time of Cliff’s passing, they had been married 59 years. They greatly enjoyed their retirement years with travel, good friends and beloved family. Allene adored her three grandchildren, who called her Nemo. She was Nemo long before any movies used the name, making her the original Nemo!
Allene is survived by siblings Wanda Latham Reaves, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Priscilla Butler (Tony), Houston, Texas, daughters Jodi Calhoun of Friday Harbor, Wa., Kim Poulton (Garry) of West Bountiful, Utah, three grandchildren Copper Calhoun, Friday Harbor, Wa., Denton Poulton and Shelby Poulton, both of West Bountiful, Utah, and multiple nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The celebration of Allene’s life was held on Sept. 8, 2015, at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Rangely, Colo., with interment at Rangely Cemetery.
