Lifetime Meeker resident, Oscar Kenneth “Ace” Ridgeway, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, May 8, 2020, at the Walbridge Wing in Meeker, Colorado. He was 77 years old.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 16, 2020, at Faith Baptist Church in Meeker. Burial will follow at Meeker’s Highland Cemetery.
Oscar Kenneth “Ace” Ridgeway was born the son of Oscar William and Eva Irene (Kendall) Ridgeway on June 27, 1942 in Meeker, Colorado. One of 13 children, he spent his childhood and attended public schools in Meeker. Ace honorably served his country with the United States Army. After serving six months, Ace received news of his father’s passing and was honorably discharged to be with his family.
When he was discharged, Ace returned to working as a truck driver for Harp Transportation Lines to provide for his family. He also worked for Rio Blanco County Road and Bridge for many years until his retirement. Ace was a man of God who loved helping people. He centered his life around his church family and spending time with his extended family and close friends. Ace truly loved to share the gospel and the promises of our Lord and Savior with everyone. Above all, he was a devoted brother, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and the Meeker Community that he adored.
Ace is survived by Cathy McDaugale of Littleton, Colorado, who was like a daughter to him, her husband Matt, their son Alec and his two sons, David and Noah. Ace is also survived by one brother, Gordon Ray Ridgeway of Snohomish, Washington; two sisters, Roberta Jean Cook of Meeker and Sherry Lynn Howell of Socorro, New Mexico; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Ace was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Eva Ridgeway; six brothers, Harold Wesley Ridgeway, James Duane Ridgeway, Fenton Leroy Ridgeway, William Oscar Ridgeway, Robert Eugene Ridgeway and Donald Wayne Ridgeway; and three sisters, Virginia Lee Bolles, Betty Marie Campbell and Laura Sue Monteque.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 16, 2020, at Faith Baptist Church in Meeker. Burial will follow at Meeker’s Highland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Ace’s church: Faith Baptist Church at 1095 Garfield St., Meeker, CO 81641.
