Aug. 18, 1949 ~ June 21, 2021
Paula passed away suddenly and peacefully of natural causes while doing what she loved — driving through the beautiful White River Valley in and around Meeker, Colorado. It was a sunny day, near a beautiful pond and large meadows with a river flowing and birds singing. Her precious soul was lifted from this world surrounded by the tranquility of nature.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, she graduated from Olney High School and worked as a medical stenographer for some of the top surgeons in the city. She married her former husband, Daniel Maguire, and had one son in 1973.
In 2002, she pursued her lifelong dream of moving to Colorado after selling her house and taking a year off to explore and hike many of the beautiful areas in Colorado and Utah. Her favorite hikes were in Rocky Mountain National Park.
She eventually bought a home in Meeker, Colorado, and worked tirelessly delivering mail and other publications in northwest Colorado. She was always grateful for the small town life and the warmth and support of the locals in Meeker. She also enjoyed spending time with her son who lives in “nearby” Carbondale, Colorado.
She is survived by her son James Maguire, sister Rhoda Smith, niece W. Taylor Smith, cat Misty, and other dear family members.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, Sept. 19 in Meeker. More information can be found at www.mykeeper.com/profile/PaulaMaguire
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in memory of Paula to the Rocky Mountain Conservancy at https://rmconservancy.org
