Obituary: Rhonda Kay Gilbert

Lifelong Meeker resident Rhonda Kay Gilbert, 24, died suddenly April 14, 2008, at her home.
Rhonda was born Aug. 6, 1983, in Meeker the daughter of Casey Gilbert and Teresa Boren Gilbert. She attended school in Meeker where she graduated from high school with the class of 2001. Following her graduation she worked on the family’s Louisiana Purchase Ranch, at Pizza Hut, Clark’s and at the time of her death worked as a housekeeper for Redi Services.
Rhonda will be remembered for her infectious smile, her sense of humor and her warm all-embracing hugs. She loved the time she spent outdoors hunting, collecting bears and being with her family and friends. She was especially fond of her niece Miranda and was anxiously awaiting the birth of her second niece any day.
Survivors include her father, Casey, her mother, Teresa, one sister, Melissa Gilbert and one brother Roy Gilbert, all of Meeker, her maternal grandfather Doyle Boren of Vernal, Utah,  her special friend “Papa Rick” Rick Tingle, three aunts, Robin and Rayola, both of Meeker, Deborah of Vernal, Utah, and three uncles, Dale Boren, Dallas Boren, both of Vernal and Harold Gilbert of Dubois, Wyo., her niece Miranda as well as numerous cousins.
Her maternal grandmother, Juanita Boren and her paternal grandparents Ralph and Velma Gilbert have preceded Rhonda in death.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Freeman Fairfield Community Center. Interment will follow in the Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 6–8 p.m. Friday or 10 a.m.-12 noon on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Rhonda Gilbert Memorial Fund through Cochran Memorial Chapel.
