Richard Glen Carver
Dec. 19, 1944 ~ April 23, 2023
Richard Glen Carver, 78, of Atwood passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 28 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Meeker, Colorado, 1191 Market St.
Richard was born in Collbran, Colorado, on Dec. 19, 1944. Richard graduated from Plateau Valley High School. He married to Norma Held on June 4, 1965. He was a loving husband to Norma and proud father to Lori and Daniel.
After marrying Norma, they moved to Grand Junction for a year, back to Mesa for eight years and spent 47 years of their life in Meeker. After losing Norma, Richard moved to Atwood, Colorado, to be closer to family.
Richard served in the Army National Guard for six years and worked for and retired from USGS as a water technician.
Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, 4-wheeling and spending as much time as possible in the great outdoors with his family and friends.
His love for the outdoors took him traveling all around the U.S. from coast to coast. One of his last big adventures was with his family to Alaska.
The Lord and the Bible was the anchor of Richard’s life. His strong faith in the Lord was the foundation of his family. He taught each of us to work to form our families in the same manner.
He is survived by his daughter, Lori Petersen and her husband Joel of Stanton, Michigan, and his son Daniel Carver and his wife Stephanie of Atwood, Colorado; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren as well as two brothers, Alfred (Nona) Carver, Howard (Kay) Carver.
Although we are sad to have lost such an amazing man, the impact he made on all of us will live on in our hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Richard’s name to Hospice of the Plains in Sterling, Colorado.
