Sept. 19, 1946 ~ June 14, 2024
Richard Amick was born to Cleora (Agee) and Jim Amick of Meeker on Sept. 19, 1946 and was their third child. His early education took place in the one-room schoolhouses taught by his mother and, in later years, he attended school in Meeker. He graduated from Meeker High School in 1964.
Rich was the beloved husband of Debbie (Hunt) Amick for 45 years. Loving father of Alicia Wagner (Eric), Matthew Amick (Lindsay), and James Amick. Proud and loving Papa of Kaydee, Ella, Jaxon, Avery, Quinn, Elliott, Drew and the late James. Dear brother of JD Amick (Nancy) and DeeAnn Dondit (the late Bill).
Rich was a dedicated science teacher for 55 years, spending 48 of those years at Bethany Christian School in Troy. He encouraged, inspired, and enriched the lives of thousands of students over the years, many of whom are now working in medicine or other science related fields. Rich was also a devout Christian and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Troy. His greatest joy on Earth was his family; he was a wonderful husband, a fiercely loving father, and proud Papa who loved to spend time with his family. He also enjoyed gardening and being outdoors and happily volunteered to maintain the landscaping and a large garden at the church. Rich was kind, humble, and generous; he was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Funeral services were held on June 22 at First Baptist Church of Troy. Memorial contributions will be used to establish the Richard Amick Scholarship Fund. Please share memories with the family at their online guestbook at WujekCalcaterra.com
