Robert L. Weinholdt

Robert L. Weinholdt, 84, of Brighton, Colo., died on Feb. 28, 2009. He was born on Dec. 3, 1924, in West Portal, Colo., to Charles and Louise (McQueary) Weinholdt. He was graduated from high school in 1968 in Casper, Wyo., and moved to Brighton. He married Janice L. Mintz on Jan. 12, 1995, in Brighton.
He worked for Frolick Crane Company as a crane operator. He was a heavy equipment operator for numerous other companies, retiring in 1989. He attended the Loves Foundation Church of Brighton.
He served in the Army, the Air Corps and later re-enlisted in the Navy. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was part of U.S. 10th Mountain Division, 87th Infantry, Camp Hale, Colo. While in the Navy, he was part of the American push in the Aleutians Island to ward off the Japanese.
Golf was a huge part of Robert’s life. Training in Augusta, Ga., he was also an instructor and loved to play the game. He made golf clubs and repaired carts.
Robert is survived by his wife, Janice of Brighton; sons, Robb (Kathy) of Buena Vista, Colo., Randy of Golden, Colo., and Rick of Scottsdale, Ariz.; daughter, Kalene Weinholdt of Meeker, Colo.; and mother-in-law Nina Mintz of Meeker, Colo. He is also survived by his children’s mother, Barbara and numerous grandchildren. Preceded in death by one brother, Charles, Jr. in 1936 and second wife, Dorothy Weinholdt in 1994.
Memorial services were scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home, Brighton.
A second service to celebrate his life will be held in Meeker, Colo., at a later date.
