June 13, 1957 ~ Aug. 15, 2025
Rosemary was born in Bismark, North Dakota, the youngest of five children and the first girl in the family. She attended high school in the Lakewood area, attended Brigham Young University and Colorado State University where she graduated with a BFA. She married Kenn Brown, the love of her life, in 1981, and they were eventually blessed with a son, Sean Brown, and with two granddaughters, Alli and Lillie.
Rosemary lived close to the land for most of her life. She and Kenn built a mountain home above Buford in NW Colorado, where they cooked on a wood-fired stove, lived in the rhythms of the seasons, and raised many Icelandic sheep. She was a weaver who hand-sheared her sheep. She spun and wove beautiful thick rugs on her loom using the long natural fibers, as well as other fibers, brilliantly dyed colors and patterns so uniquely her.
From the time she was a young girl, she was a horsewoman, and was particularly inclined to Morgan horses. Whether on horse or on foot, she was a saunterer in the high valleys, mountainsides, on trails, and off trails.
She passed through considerable hardship on account of cancer at a young age, and was able to transcend this and make a life of beauty and connection. Her understanding and empathy for others was deep. Like her mother, she was a habitual letter writer. She had a remarkable memory for stories and details. She was a follower of Christ and a lifelong member of the LDS church.
Rosemary is survived by her husband, Kenn Brown, and their son Sean and granddaughters, Alli and Lillie. She is also survived by her four older brothers, Karl (Idaho), Les (Arizona), Jerry (Utah), and Roger (Colorado).
