Scott Lynn “Scotty” Hansen of St. George, Utah, formerly of Rangely, Colorado, passed away at age 22 due to complications with his health.
He was born on March 20, 1998, to MaryAnn Hackford Hansen in Salt Lake City, Utah. Scotty was a unique soul that blessed the lives of all those he met. He always had a smile on his face and his laughter was infectious.
Scott truly was an angel here on earth. He faced many challenges in this world with his health but that never kept him down.
He loved to ride four-wheelers with Grandpa or anybody that would take him. He loved to be in the water with his Uncle Julian whether it was swimming, fishing, boating or tubing. Scotty loved racing with his cousins in go-carts. He was great at one-handed card tricks and learning new technology.
Due to his limitations in speech, Scotty found creative ways to express himself. He was an expert at navigating YouTube, and he loved his iPad. He frequently watched the same programs in multiple languages. Even though he was non-verbal, he found many ways to communicate with his family and friends.
Scotty is survived by his mother, MaryAnn; grandparents, Doug E. and Karen Ann Hackford; great-grandmother, Bettie Jo Hackford, all of St. George; aunts and uncles, Chub (Deborah) Hackford, Roosevelt; Amanda (Julian) Mendoza, Rangely; cousins, Kaytlynn (Derek) Lamb, Russell Hackford, Tyson Bailey-Mendoza and Aaron Mendoza.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Shriner’s Hospital for Children in Salt Lake City and the numerous doctors, nurses, technicians, therapists and aides that have helped him over the years. Especially with all the orthopedic supports and mobility equipment and any modifications needed.
Graveside services will be held Friday, June 26, 2020, at 11 a.m. at the Tridell Cemetery. Please come as you are.
