July 18, 1934 ~ Oct. 23, 2024

Tracy R. Brown (TRB) passed away Oct. 23, 2024. He was born July 18, 1934, in Richfield, Idaho, to William and Lena Brown. He was the fourth of eight children.

TRB is survived by his wife of 30 years, Donna Brown of Meeker, Colorado; son, Chip (Denise) Brown of Meeker, Colorado; grandchildren, Cole Brown of New Braunfels, Texas, and Kirsten Brown of Nashville, Tennessee; stepdaughter, Leta (Jeff) Veitch of Montrose, Colorado; stepson, Eric (Jenny) Lozier of Palisade, Colorado; and siblings, Duane (Sheila) Brown of Kearns, Utah; Nancy Walker of Boise, Idaho; Clayton (Ruth) Brown of Stockton, California; Ross (Lois) Brown of Bellevue, Michigan; and John (Sherrie) Brown of Alamo, Nevada. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Bill Brown and Ruth Giles.

TRB was raised in Richfield, Idaho, and served in the U.S. Army in the 1950s, stationed in Germany. He loved the outdoors, spending most of his life as a cowboy. His favorite places to live and work included the Selway-Bitterroot Forest in Montana and Idaho, the Eureka Cattle Pool in Baggs, Wyoming, the Bar HL Cow Camp in Meeker, Colorado, and the Duck Creek Cow Camp at Piceance Creek near Meeker.

TRB had a passion for photography and art, including charcoal drawing and painting. His photography captured people, life’s moments, and places often unseen from the road, while his art depicted cowboy scenes. Later in life, he expanded his artistic skills to leatherwork, crafting saddles, chaps, bridles, belts, wallets, and holsters.

His first love was horses, and his favorite sound was the ring of spur rowels. Known for his sense of humor, he enjoyed teasing and making people laugh—a quality that will be missed by many.

A memorial will be held in the spring.
