Obituary – Wesley Dean Eubanks

June 26, 1958 ~ Aug. 24, 2024

Wesley Dean Eubanks was born June 26, 1958, in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, to James and Nancy Hughes Eubanks. He grew up in Arkansas and graduated from Paragould High School in 1976.

On Oct. 18, 1978, he raised his right hand while facing the American flag and pledged to defend his country.  His Air Force career started out with him being a mechanic on the B52 Bomber.  A few years later he cross-trained to become a Flight Engineer on the C141 cargo plane and flew until he retired in October of 1998.

While in Meeker on leave in July 1983, he met Shawna Sturgeon. They were married in August of the following year. They began their married life at Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino, California. They welcomed their son, Shaun Wesley in October 1985 and their daughter Amanda Leigh in February 1989.

While stationed at Altus Air Force Base in Altus, Oklahoma, Wes retired from the Air Force after 20 memorable years. He then began teaching future engineers. After the C141 was retired, Wes became a mechanic, once again, on the C17. When his health began to decline, he was medically retired from Civil Service. In May of 2015 he and Shawna bought a small place near her parents. They moved back to Meeker, Colorado, where Wes was happy to putter around the place and be around his and Shawna’s families. He was happy to be part of the Meeker VFW and was a staunch supporter of veterans.

May 2024 Wes was flown to Denver due to medical problems and passed away Aug. 24, one day after his and Shawna’s 40th wedding anniversary.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Jim and Nancy Eubanks. His brother, Tom Eubanks.  His grandparents and some of his fellow military friends.

Those left to remember him are his wife, Shawna Sturgeon Eubanks of the home. His son Shaun Eubanks and daughter Amanda Eubanks, both of Colorado Springs. His brother Stan (Sandy) Eubanks of Dolores, Colorado.  His brother Torrance (LaDonna) of Meeker.  His extended family and friends worldwide.

Wes was a son, a brother, a husband, a dad, a friend and a true Patriot.

A memorial will be held Friday, June 20 at 10:30 a.m. at the Heritage Culture Center, 517 Park.
