Meeker Elementary School is working alongside OneSeed, a non-profit based in Ghana, West Africa, to participate in a full year Sister-School Cultural Exchange Project with Wisdom Ways Academy in Haatso, Accra. The effort is headed by Meeker native Aubrey Walsh. To kick off the partnership, Meeker Elementary School students will be hosting the OneSeed Christmas fundraiser downtown during the Parade of Lights.
The students will be making custom mugs to be purchased with hot chocolate during the parade, but they needed some help with purchasing supplies to make all of the mugs.
Cooper Braaten (above left), a representative from the OneSeed committee, reached out to residents of Walbridge Wing for help. He explained all about the project and what it would mean for the elementary school. He also explained they would be part of the outreach program and get to see the results of their generosity. The residents were more than happy to respond to his request and gave a monetary donation to help with the project cost.
