Flood refunds announced for rifle seasons, property updates
DENVER I A few game management units in Northeastern Colorado will have refunds offered for rifle seasons in response to the flood, but many units are huntable as additional lands and properties return to normal in the northeast region.
MHS Cowboys suffer first loss of the season
MEEKER I The Meeker Cowboy football team suffered its first loss (22-28) of the season in Paonia last Friday but according to their coach, they have to “put Paonia behind them” because the Cowboys are celebrating homecoming this week and hosting the defending state champion Cedaredge Bruins in Starbuck Stadium.
Panthers turn ball, game over to Vail Christian Saints
RANGELY I Vail Christian was supposed to travel to Rangely for a football game on Yeager Field last Friday but because of a power outage caused by the snowstorm, the game was postponed until Monday, when the Saints did come to town and marched out with a 26-8 win.

Baby, it’s cold outside…
The snowstorm started before the Thursday football game between the Rangely Middle School Panthers and the Barone Middle School Cowboys in Starbuck Stadium but it didn’t prevent them from playing the game under the lights. Meeker won 22-6.

RANGELY I The Rangely volleyball team played Vail Mountain and North Park over the weekend and came up short in both matches. Adding insult to injury was an injury to defensive specialist Simone Heinle Friday night.
Volunteer training for hospice-type care
MEEKER | HopeWest of Meeker is excited to host a volunteer training for “end-of-life” or “hospice-type” care. Training is offered Friday, Oct. 11 from 5-8:30 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Autumn storm downs trees, power lines
RANGELY I An early fall storm dropped between five and eight inches of snow on Meeker and Rangely Thursday night and early Friday, knocking out many county residents’ power for the better part of two days and severely damaging hundreds of trees.
