Broderick wins women’s title
RANGELY — Teresa Broderick won the 2008 women’s club championship on Saturday afternoon when she beat five-time defending champion Ellen Boudreaux by only two strokes. Broderick also had no birdies in the 18-hole contest, while Boudreaux managed one.

MEEKER — Billy Nelson, the son of Bill Nelson, a supervisor with Summit Industries in Meeker, will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase qualifying race at the Beijing Olympic Games at 7:20 p.m. Aug. 16, Mountain Time.
Morrises win couples tourney

June calls for service increase 4.8 percent
RBC — The total number of incidents received by the Rio Blanco County Communica-tions Center increased 4.8 percent during the first six months of 2008 compared to 2007 totals. However, in June 2008, the communications center logged 992 incidents during the month, down from 1,031 incidents in June 2007.
Traffic stop leads to large drug bust July 29
RBC — While on patrol, Deputy Clay Caldwell of the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office initiated a routine traffic stop that turned into a significant narcotics bust.
