RANGELY | Rangely Panthers boys basketball came away with a pair of league wins this past week. The weekend kicked off with the Hayden Tigers coming to town for a Friday match up.
The Panthers started strong and took the lead immediately. The Panthers stayed strong and were able to go into the locker room with a 13 point lead at half.
The team started the second half on fire, hitting shots beyond the arc and dominating the paint. Rangely was able to extend their lead every quarter, eventually winning the game 65-40. It was senior Kenyon Cochrane that led the Panthers this time, scoring 19. He was followed by senior Fisher Winder who added another 15.
On Saturday, the team settled in for a long snowy bus ride to play West Grand. This time the Panthers started slow but managed to hit their stride in the second quarter and establish a strong lead. The Panthers controlled the game and cruised to a 63-32 win over the Mustangs. This time it was senior Kevin Wren with the hot hand, scoring 21 points. Again, Cochrane was right there contributing 10 points. This week, the Panthers will match up in Grand Junction against Caprock Academy on Thursday and will host Debeque on Saturday.
