RBC | “We are very excited for this year’s soccer season, we have a young team with 25 girls total and we are looking forward to a good season,” said Rangely High School girls’ soccer team coach Kristine Denny. “This year we are able to have a partial JV schedule which will improve the girls’ knowledge of the game.”
The team started the season with a loss to Vail Mountain Tuesday. In their second game they traveled to Craig and varsity won with a 4-3 victory. Goals were scored by seniors Corinne Combs, Adriana Lopez and two by Taylor Heil, with two assists for junior Klaire Denny. Defense played very competitive keeping the ball into the offense.
“This year the Panthers picked up JV games and the JV lost its first game 2-3 and played outstanding for girls that have never played the game of soccer before,” coach Denny said. Goals were scored by junior Elizabeth McCann and sophomore Aspen Rhea. Saturday the team traveled again to Vail Christian and struggled with a 1-2 loss.
