RANGELY | After winning the league title last year, The Rangely Panthers football team looks to continue their winning ways. New head Coach Ryan Wilkie is counting on a strong senior class led by Timothy Scoggins and Zane Varner, who each had excellent junior seasons.
When asked what we could expect from this team Wilkie said, “I think you will see a physical football team, who plays disciplined and has a lot of fun.” The team hopes to be able to capitalize on an experienced offensive line, which will be returning three starters from last season. They expect to “count on a strong running game and tackle well on defense, as we are young at some key positions, but we expect to lean on our eight seniors and a solid junior class,” Wilkie stated.
They will have to be road warriors as they go on a four game road trip this year, but will get the last two games of the season at home. “Our goal is to start fast, and take advantage of every opportunity because we know how tough it is to travel, much less for a month straight, but we know to reach our goals for the season we are going to have to eliminate excuses, and play to our potential. If we can do that, I think we will be happy with the outcome.”
