RANGELY | Rangely volleyball had a busy week with games. It started off with a Tuesday evening match against Meeker in a non-league game.
Varsity made the night exciting, getting the win in five sets. The first set went to Meeker as they allowed only 10 points to be scored by the Panthers. The Lady Panthers allowed too many unforced errors. Second set was a little closer but Meeker taking the set, 25-21. As the third set began, the lady Panthers showed they were not done. They dug deep and won the set 25-20 pushing for a fourth set. As the fourth set progressed, the ladies showed some mental toughness winning the set 25-14. The fifth set would be the deciding factor to see who went home with the win. The battle continued throughout the fifth set but Rangely came together to finish and get the win, beating Meeker 15-10. Outstanding play by all the ladies as they pulled together for the win. Kassidee Brown led the team in earned points behind the service line with 13, while Halie Elam added 12 earned points, Sarah Connor led with 13 kills with Katelyn Brown close behind with 11 kills and led in digs with 24, Skylar Thacker contributed 20 digs as well.
On Friday, Rangely volleyball hosted the North Park Wildcats. Rangely came out ready to play as they beat North Park in three straight sets, 25-22, 25-15 and 25-11. Great serving by the ladies: Kassidee Brown led the team with 20 earned points, with KK Fortunato contributing 12 earned points. Katelyn Brown led with 12 kills, with Kalire Denny right behind her with 11 kills. Skylar Thacker and Katelyn Brown both had 12 digs each.
On a rainy Saturday, Rangely volleyball traveled to Vail Mountain looking for their third win of the week. The first two sets were a battle to the end with Rangely coming out on top on both sets 25-23. In the third set, Rangely struggled with passing and keeping their serve which cost them the set, losing 14-25. As Rangely entered the fourth set, they showed they wanted to win. Serving and great defense from Halie Elam, Skylar Thacker and Kierra Powell were key in the fourth set as they beat Vail Mountain 25-19. Kassidee Brown, Sarah Connor and Halie Elam led the team in earned points behind the service line with 12 points, 11 points and 10 points respectively. Skylar Thacker led the team in digs with 21. Katelyn Brown led with kills with Sarah Connor contributing 10.
Overall, the wins for the week were a team effort as they pulled through some tough challenges. Rangely volleyball heads into Homecoming week with only one match for the week against Soroco. Matches start at 4 p.m.
