RANGELY | The Panther wrestling team traveled to Soroco last Friday for duals with the hosting Soroco Rams and the West Grand Mustangs. The duals started with the Panthers matched up against West Grand. The Panthers came out strong. Winning matches for the Panthers were Aydan Christian, Izaiah Moody, Kasen LeBleu and Jaxon Torsell. The Panthers that won by forfeit included Wyatt Stevens, Landon Carlson, Colton Stevens and Kobey Chism. The Panthers won the dual 48-30.
The next dual was against a short-handed Soroco team, as there were only four matches. The Panthers won all four matches by pins; winning matches were Kobey Chism, Colin Zadra, Kolby Olsen and Kasen LeBleu. The rest of the team won by forfeits. The final score of the dual was Rangely 66-6.
On Saturday, the Panthers competed in the Soroco Invitational, and the team wrestled well, as the Panthers put four wrestlers in the finals. Kobey Chism was the lone champion, while tournament runner-ups were Aydan Christian, Kasen LeBleu and Jaxon Torsell. Placing fourth for the Panthers was first-year senior Jaime Sanchez. Jaime works hard in practice and is getting better each week. Winning matches for the Panthers but not placing this week were Landon Carlson, Colton Stevens, Colin Zadra, Izaiah Moody and Kolby Olsen.
The team would like to thank the parents and grandparents for traveling and supporting us. Also a big thank you to Cory and Mykell Christian for the donation to the team to help with dinner. The team travels to Kremmling for duals Friday and then competes on Saturday in the West Grand tournament. This will be the last action we will have until the Christmas break is over.
