RANGELY | The Rangely Panthers celebrated homecoming with a decisive victory over the Soroco Rams, thanks to a stellar performance from both their offense and defense. The game started with a fumble on the opening kickoff, putting the Panther defense in a tough position. However, they rose to the occasion, forcing the Rams to turn the ball over on downs. After that, the Panthers took control, scoring on just their second offensive play and never looking back.
Senior Jordan Irwin led the Panthers with an outstanding performance, rushing for 126 yards including two runs for touchdowns. He also added 13 receiving yards and another touchdown. Gage Fielder contributed significantly as well, rushing for 76 yards and scoring two touchdowns. Tristan Scott caught a 26-yard touchdown pass to round out the scoring for the Panthers.
The defense was just as impressive, stifling the Rams’ offense throughout the night. Wyatt Stevens and Braden Lucas led the team with eight total tackles each, while Landon Carlson added seven. The Panthers’ defense allowed little momentum for Soroco, making key stops and dominating the line of scrimmage.
This game allowed several younger players to experience Friday night football, giving them a glimpse of what it’s like to perform under the lights.
