RANGELY | The Rangely Panthers extended their winning streak to three games Friday with a 54-41 home victory over Plateau Valley, handing the Cowboys their first league loss of the season.
Rangely (9-3) snapped Plateau Valley’s eight-game winning streak behind a balanced scoring effort and strong defensive pressure.
Aubrey Yates and Aubrianna Tapia led the Panthers with 13 points each. Tapia added seven rebounds, while Addison Scott finished with 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Tegan Behunin contributed 10 points, seven rebounds and four steals.
Sophomore RyLee Kenney had seven assists and four steals as Rangely limited second-chance opportunities and disrupted Plateau Valley’s offensive flow.
Rangely followed with a 52-16 road win Saturday over De Beque, extending its winning streak to four games and improving to 10-3.
The Panthers took control early and held the Dragons to single digits in multiple quarters.
Behunin led all scorers with 14 points, while Yates added 11 points, four assists and three steals. Yates has recorded at least three steals in 10 consecutive games.
Tapia and Scott anchored the defense, combining for 18 rebounds, and Kenney added five assists and four steals. De Beque was limited to one assist for the game, and leading scorer Avery Rigsby finished with seven points.

The Rangely Panthers girls’ basketball extended their winning streak to three games last weekend.
