RANGELY | The Rangely Panthers kicked off their home opener and the Lancaster Memorial game against the Dove Creek Bulldogs. Unfortunately, the Panthers’ first drive stalled, and during the subsequent punt, the Bulldogs dropped the ball, but Rangely couldn’t recover it. The coaching staff believes that missed opportunity could have been a significant momentum shift.
On a brighter note, Marcos Quintana delivered his best passing performance of the season, throwing for 121 yards. He connected with Tristan Scott for an impressive 46-yard touchdown pass. Marcos also showcased his versatility by rushing for a touchdown. Kobey Chism made a significant impact in both the running and passing game, accumulating a total of 109 yards and securing one touchdown.
Jaxon Torsell led the team in tackles, recording a total of 10 tackles during the game. “Unfortunately, we faced a challenging start in the first half, plagued by penalties and mistakes on both offense and defense. Over the next week they will strive to make corrections and focus on moving forward with a positive attitude while putting in the necessary hard work,” coaches stated.
The Panthers will next play at Calhan on Friday.
