RANGELY I The Rangely boys’ varsity basketball team lost Saturday’s home conference game against Cedaredge by a score of 58-50. The Panthers started slow but outscored the Bruins 16-9 in the second quarter to carry a 24-22 lead into halftime. Rangely and Cedaredge traded shots for much of the third quarter before the Bruins jumped out to a 10 point lead entering the fourth quarter. That lead proved to be the Panthers demise as they couldn’t close the gap.
“Cedaredge is a good team. Except for three minutes in the third quarter, I thought this was the best we’ve looked all season. I’m very proud of how hard these boys continue to work and improve,” stated coach Kyle Boydstun. Keihlin Myers led the Panthers with 14 points, 11 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 assists. Fisher Winder contributed 11 points and 3 three pointers, with Kevin Wren following with 8 points. The Panther “C” team pushed the Bruins to two overtimes before losing by only three points. On the JV side, Cedaredge got the victory.
Rangely has another busy weekend with upcoming home games against Caprock Academy on Thursday and Little Snake River on Friday. The Panthers travel to North Park on Saturday to wrap up league play.
