The Rangely lady Panthers had a busy weekend hosting Plateau Valley on Friday for a non-league matchup. Head Coach Jimmie Mergelman described a very tight back-and-forth game that did not end in the Panthers’ favor.
“We really hurt ourselves and let them out rebound us. They scored 21 second chance points. That is the difference between winning and losing. We have to do a better job of rebounding,” Mergelman said.
The team depends heavily on Annika Cantrell who has been out with an ankle injury.
“She should be back at the New Year when we start league,” Mergelman said.
Ryann Mergelman and Miah Wren played well and stepped up. Also coming off the bench and making an impact was Jade Miller. Mergelman had 15 points, nine rebounds and five steals. Wren finished with 13 points, nine rebounds and five deflections. Also scoring for the Panthers were Ashlynn Ducey with five, Jade Miller with two, Miley Chism and Kastyn Dembowski both with one apiece.
