RANGELY | The lady Panthers hosted the Vail Christian Saints on Friday. Junior varsity lost 2-1 in a hard fought match. Though the final scores did not come out in favor of the Panthers, some players had good numbers. Freshmen Shauna Lapp and Adelynn Halcomb led in kills with four each while junior Katelyn Willis, in her season debut, came away with two. Angelina Peck led the team with 10 digs and Andrea Knight made three serving aces.
On the varsity side, the lady Panthers were more successful. They came away with the win 3-0. Offense was strong for the Panthers with 24 assists for senior setter Kassidee Brown. Senior Marlena Miller leads the team with 12 kills in the match with junior Hannah Wilkie close behind with seven and senior Makenze Cochrane with five. (On a side note, Marlena leads the state in the 2A division for kills currently.) Miller, along with sophomores Kacie Lapp and Megan Ward, scored two serving aces each. On the defensive side senior Libero Skylar Thacker led the team with 27 digs. Kacie Lapp and Makenze Cochrane came away with 14 and 12 respectively.
The team looks forward to seeing what these young women can do at Meeker Thursday at 5 and 6 p.m., at Vail Mountain Friday at 4 and 5 p.m., and home against North Park Saturday at 11 a.m. and 12 p.m.
