Making a long road trip to Yuma, Colorado, the Rangely Panthers encountered tough competition Friday, Dec. 16. Yuma dominated the Panthers from the tip-off with intense pressure in the passing lanes, forcing many Panther turnovers leading to easy baskets. The Panthers went down 24-5 after a tough first quarter. Rangely continued to battle and handled the pressure better after the first quarter but fell 75-30. Marcos Quintana scored eight points and Lincoln Harris added seven.
On Saturday the result was the same for the Panthers. They encountered the tough Limon Badgers, who had many returning players from a third-place finish last year at state. Once again the defensive pressure the Panthers encountered from tip-off was too much to handle. The Panthers were down 27-4 after the first quarter and they would not recover. The final score of the game was 73-26. Leading the way for the Panthers was Chase Cochrane who scored seven.
