Panthers play Coal Ridge at home tonight

On Sept. 6, the Rangely Panthers traveled to Craig. The freshman team took to the floor. The match ended up going into three sets before a winner could be determined. The Panthers competed hard the first set but came up short losing 18-25. The girls turned around and pushed even harder winning the second set 25-15. This led to a third set in which the Bulldogs out -played the Panthers winning the game 15-7. The Panther’s team was led in kills by Zoey Britt. Aaleigha Donovan led the teams in passes and Kaelyn Geer led the team in digs.

The girls worked hard and will be ready to take on North Fork on Friday. The JV team fought hard but just couldn’t put it all together and lost in three sets. The first set was won 25-22, the second set was 23-25 and the third set was 8-15. Tylee Fielder and Paola Munoz led the team on serves with three aces each followed by Aubrianna Tapia with two aces. Abrianna Tapia had four kills and five solo blocks that game, and Addie Scott also had four kills. Tylee Fielder also led the team in digs with 15. The varsity played next and played the maximum amount of set also. The match started off well for Rangely as they took set one and two. Set three started off rocky for the Panthers and just couldn’t pull it together. The Panthers unfortunately were outscored to drop the fifth and final set. Addie Scott came in to help the Panthers and did a good job. Both setters for Rangely did a good job moving the ball around to all their hitter. Annika Cantrell led the team with nine kills, with Emmeree Wagner and Kyrah Phleps chipping seven kills apiece. Kaitlyn Cox led the team with eight aces and 18 earned points behind the service line. Defensively, Lexi LeBleu led with eight blocks with Annika Cantrell adding six blocks. Kyrah Phelps, Kristiana Terry and Emma Smith made some great digs.

On Sept. 9, the Panthers hosted the North Fork Miners. The freshmen lost the first set 25-14 and lost the second set 25-23. The girls fought hard the second set and showed great improvement. Courtney Files led the team in serving with 12 unanswered points. Zoey Britt led the team in kills with seven followed by Aaleigha Donovan with five. Kaelyn Geer had 22 digs and Chloe Noel had an amazing solo block.

JV came out to play but unfortunately lost in two sets, 22-25 and 17-25. Courtney Files had two aces that game and six assists. Paola Munoz had four kills followed by Sydney Lujan and Addie Scott each with three kills. Aubrianna Tapia and Addie Scott each had one block. Tylee Fielder led the team again in digs with 19.

Varsity knew that North Fork would be tough and knew that a league win would be great! Again, the Panthers varsity team pushed the maximum number sets to decide the match but this time the Panthers ended with the win. North Fork proved to be a tough opponent as they blocked many of Rangely’s hits and didn’t let a lot of balls drop. They were an excellent serving team that didn’t have many errors. The girls proved to themselves that they were able to push through and get the win. Kyrah Phelps, Karlee Halcomb and Kaitlyn Cox led the team in aces with three apiece. Karlee Halcomb’s tough serving in the fourth set changed the Panther’s momentum to get the win. Karlee Halcomb led the team in earned points behind the service line with 14 earned points. Again, the setters did a great job moving the ball around. Kyrah Phelps led with eight kills while Annika Cantrell and Lexi LeBleu chipped in seven kills each. Annika Cantrell led the team in blocks with six. Emma Smith and Kristiana Terry did a great job in the back row getting some great digs.

On Saturday, the third match of the week, varsity headed to Debeque. The Panthers looked a little slow as the match started but found a little rhythm. It did take four sets to get the win, but the Panthers got it done. Debeque pushed the Panthers mentally and physically. Kaitlyn Cox led the team with four aces and led the team in points earned with 12. Kyrah Phelps and Karlee Halcomb also chipped in nine earned points apiece. Lexi LeBleu led with nine kills with Kyrah Phelps right behind her with eight kills. Again, Emma Smith and Kristiana Terry did a great job defensively. Emmeree Wagner was also a force at the net defensively and offensively. The Panthers would like to see everyone at the home game on Thursday night as they take on Coal Ridge.
