RANGELY | The lady Panthers were back in action last Friday for a non-league match with the North Fork Miners. “We started out slow and just didn’t finish around the basket, going into half down by four,” said head coach Jimmie Mergelman. The Panthers ended up falling to the Miners 25-38. Annika Cantrell led all scoring with eight, followed by Miley Chism with four, Kastyn Dembowski with three, Emmeree Wagner, Kaitlyn Cox, and Ashlynn Ducey with two a piece. Ryann Mergelman added one.
Saturday the Panthers traveled to Soroco for the first league match of the season. They opened up the game well and started off strong, going into halftime with the score of 26-9. Finishing out the game just as strong, the Panthers won 48-31. Mergelman led scoring with 19 and eight rebounds. Followed by Cantrell with nine points and four rebounds, Cantrell has been strong coming back after the break. Ducey and Chism added five apiece, Dembowski and Wagner four each, and Cox and MacKenzie Manchester finished with three. The Panthers will travel to Plateau Valley on Friday for a league match.
JV is continuing their winning streak beating North Fork 48–23, scoring was led by Tylee Fielder with 16, followed by Addison Scott with 12, Emmeree Wagner with six, Sidney Lujan with five, Aubrey Kenney and Ella Patch both added two apiece. Traveling on Saturday to Soroco JV won again with the score of 59-12. Scott lead scoring with 12, followed by Wagner with 11, Lujan with 10, Kaitlyn Cox with seven, Aubrianna Tapia with six, Abby Patch finished with five, Jade Miller and Lexi LeBleu with three each, and TyLee Fielder with two.
