On Oct. 21 the Panther freshman team took on the Soroco Rams. The Panthers lost in two hard fought sets, 25-27 and 24-26. The team was led in serves by Aaleigha Donovan with five aces. Paytin Kendall led the team in kills with four and Kaelyn Geer led the team in passing.
The JV team lost to the Soroco Rams in two close sets: 19-25 and 22-25. Sidney Lujan had a great serving game with three aces followed by Paola Munoz and Abrianna Tapia each with two aces. Lujan also led the team in kills with seven followed by Tapia and Addie Scott each with three and Gracie Varner with two. Tylee Fielder had 13 digs and Scott had seven.
The Panthers passing and serving helped elevate them to a win over Soroco. Soroco is a never-give-up team and they played hard but the Panthers worked to get the three set win. Miley Chism led the team in aces with three and Emmeree Wagner chipped in two aces of her own. Also on the offensive side, Kyrah Phelps led with 11 kills, but both setters did a great job moving the ball around as Annika Cantrell had six kills; Lexi LeBleu, Wagner and Chism each had five kills and rounding out the hitters was Ashlynn Ducey with four kills. Phelps led in blocks with two solo blocks and led in digs with 14. Emma Smith was not too far behind with 13 digs of her own. Kaitlyn Cox ended the match with 18 assists and Karlee Halcomb had 10 assists.
The Panthers traveled to Cedaredge on Oct. 22. Here the Panthers were swept by the Bruins. The freshman team lost both sets: 17-25 and 21-25. Kaelyn Geer led the team in aces with two. Paytin Kendall led the team in kills with five. With only one week of the season left, the Panthers are going to hit practice hard and finish out the season strong.
The JV team lost to the Cedaredge Bruins in two close sets: 18-25 and 24-26. It was a pretty evenly matched game. Scott led the team in kills with four and Varner had two. Lujan led the team in digs with eight followed by Fielder and Scott with seven.
The Panthers had a hard time adjusting to a tough Cedaredge team. Cedaredge was a tough serving team and just seemed to find the Panthers open holes. The Panthers dropped to the Bruins in three sets. The Panthers also served well as they had no serving errors. Chism had two aces. Phelps led with seven kills and LeBleu adding in six kills. Cox ended the match with 16 assists and Halcomb finished with five assists. Wagner played a great net game having four solo blocks and four touches. Chism had 16 digs, with Smith digging up 14. The Panthers are in their last week of regular season as they travel to Vail Christian on Friday and have their last home game on Saturday against Caprock.
