RANGELY I The Rangely Panthers celebrated Homecoming with a 62-18 dismantling of the Gilpin County Eagles. The Panthers made it interesting in the first quarter giving up two touchdowns while still scoring four, before settling in and giving the home crowd a decisive victory. Stat leaders for the game included Zane Varner with 45 yards rushing and three rushing touchdowns; Keihlan Myers led the team with 99 rushing yards, 68 of which came from a kickoff return that resulted in him scoring one touchdown; Alex Black ran for 21 yards and scored a touchdown in the third quarter, and Kobey Chism who rushed for 71 yards and also ran one in in the second quarter. The Panthers total rushing yards were 302 and averaged 14.7 yards per carry, plus 44 yards receiving all culminated in the 62-18 point victory.
Defensively the tackling leaders included Varner with seven, and Timothy Scoggins, Wyatt Wiley, and Black each with six. They held the Eagles to 263 total yards and no extra point conversions.
This week the Panthers traveled to Soroco for a Friday game, and will return home for the final two regular season games.
