RANGELY | The Rangely Panthers volleyball team delivered a stellar performance over the weekend, extending their impressive record to 11-5 overall and 7-2 in league play by clinching victories in both their matches.
On Friday, the Panthers embarked on a journey to Kremmling, where they faced off against the West Grand Mustangs and emerged triumphant with a commanding three-set win, securing victory with scores of 25-22, 25-17 and 25-21. The match witnessed Kaitlyn Cox’s outstanding service game, contributing five aces, while Emma Wagner added three more. Lexi LeBleu dominated at the net with an impressive 10 kills, accompanied by Addie Scott and Aubrianna Tapia, each notching six kills. The Panthers showcased exceptional teamwork with Cox and Karlee Halcomb tallying 15 and eight assists, respectively. On the defensive end, Emma Smith and Wagner displayed their prowess with 15 and nine digs, respectively.
In a hard-fought home match against the Manila Mustangs from Utah, the Panthers secured victory in four thrilling sets, with a narrow loss in the first set (23-25) followed by triumphant wins in the next three sets (25-13, 25-21, 26-24). Addie Scott delivered five aces in the match, complemented by three from Kaitlyn Cox. Emma Smith contributed 11 serve points, while Scott and Cox added 10 and nine, respectively. The Panther’s offense was on fire with Cantrell leading the charge with an impressive 15 kills, and LeBleu adding 11 more. Cox demonstrated her versatility with 14 assists, closely supported by Halcomb’s 10. The defensive line held strong with Cox amassing 19 digs, Halcomb with 18, and Wagner and Smith each contributing 17 digs.
Looking ahead, the Panthers are gearing up for a home match on Friday, Oct. 13 against Plateau Valley and a road game in Olathe on Saturday. The team’s stellar performance over the weekend sets the stage for an exciting and promising season.
