RANGELY | The Panthers squared off with the 2-0 Dolores Bears. The Panthers received the ball to start the game. During the opening drive the Panthers drove down the field and Chase Cochrane scored first with a 17-yard touchdown. Then Kobey Chism was able to punch in the two-point conversion.
On the ensuing kickoff the Panthers tried an onside kick, but were unable to recover it. This put a little pressure on the defense, but they were up to the challenge. The Panther defense earned a turnover on downs. The next drive was stalled due to penalties and snapping errors.
The Panthers didn’t let the negative plays determine the outcome of the game. Gage Fielder ran the ball well ending the night with 127 yards rushing and 10 yards receiving. Fielder also ran in a two-point conversion. Chism rushed 85 yards and threw 44 yards. He also had a rushing touchdown and converted two two-point conversions. Wyatt Stevens got his first rushing touchdown of his career.
The Panther defense executed the game plan extremely well. Chism tallied up 12 tackles and had two interceptions and Jaxon Torsell had 11 tackles. The Panthers have a bye week this week to continue to practice and improve.
