RANGELY | The Rangely Panthers basketball team lined up for a couple of solid games this past week. On Thursday, the Little Snake River Rattlers came to town for what would end up being a tough match.
The game was back and forth from the jump and Panthers held a single point lead heading into the locker room at half time. The second half was a physical battle but in the last couple minutes of the game Little Snake River was able to secure a small lead that they fought to maintain until the final buzzer. The Rattlers topped the Panthers 42-48.
The seniors led the scoring for the Panthers. Kevin Wren had 10, Fisher Winder had nine and Marstan Wagner had eight points. The Panthers will go to Baggs for a much anticipated rematch with the Rattlers on Feb. 10.
On Saturday, North Park came to Rangely for the second time this season. The Panthers established dominance right away and improved on their lead every quarter. When the final buzzer sounded, the Panthers won 52-29.
Wren again led the Panthers with 12 points. Winder and sophomore Marcos Quintana added 11 apiece. This week the Panthers will host Hayden on Friday, and then travel to Kremmling to play West Grand on Saturday.
