RANGELY | Coming back from Christmas break, Rangely boys’ basketball had a great weekend of games. The team earned two wins, one against North Fork on Friday and the other against Soroco on Saturday.
Against North Fork, the Panthers had a great first half holding the Miners to only 16 points. The second half of the game the Miners made a run and got the game to within six points. Rangely secured the win with some free throws from senior Kevin Wren as they outscored North Fork 58-52. Senior Marstan Wagner and Kenyon Cochrane led the team in scoring. Cochrane and sophomore Marcos Quintana led the team in rebounds while Wren led the team in assists. The Panthers brought their success into Saturday’s game against Soroco as well, winning by a score of 64-47. Seniors Wagner and Andrew Dorris led the team in scoring as well as rebounding, alongside sophomore Quintana. Senior Fisher Winder leads the team in steals.
This week the Panthers prepare for Plateau Valley on Friday and Vail Mountain on Saturday at home.
