The Rangely Panther wrestling team participated in the Fight at The Fork tournament in Hotchkiss last Friday. The event featured 28 teams, presenting the Panthers team with their most challenging competition of the season. Despite battling illness, our wrestlers performed commendably. Aydan Christian had a notable performance, securing fifth place with a 3-2 record, facing tough opponents from 3A and 4A categories. Izaiah Moody was just one match away from entering the medal round in the championship bracket. Jaxon Torsell impressively pinned his opponents to reach the finals, where he faced Judd Harvey, a two-time defending state champion from Meeker, and earned second place. Teammates Cameron Preciado, Ronny Anderson, Wyatt Stevens, and Davon Lucero also competed but did not secure wins this time. Looking ahead, the Panthers will compete in a dual team tournament at Grand Valley on Saturday and have a quick dual with Meeker on Wednesday.
