Pauline Kathryn Rodgers Smith of Meeker, Colorado, was born in Newton, Kansas on March 10, 1936 to Alvin and Mabel (Ratzlaff) Rodgers and passed from this life on Aug. 14, 2021 at 85 years of age.
Pauline grew up in Claflin, Kansas. After graduating from Lindsborg High School in Lindsborg, Kansas, she attended the Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, and graduated in 1955. While attending college, she met Ray Smith, and they were married Aug. 11, 1956, in Lindsborg, Kansas.
Ray and Pauline entered the ministry. Pauline loved playing the piano and organ at church, teaching Sunday school, planning church events, and most of all socializing.
Pauline loved being a wife and organizer. The best thing that ever happened to her was when she became a mother to her three beautiful daughters: Sheri, Cindi and Paula.
In the early years of her marriage, they lived in Ohio, Missouri, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Colorado. After settling down in Meeker, Colorado, Pauline worked for 13 years at the Meeker Post Office.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents: Alvin and Mabel Rodgers; three sisters: Virginia Hanceford, Doris Key and Frances Tarnstrom; three brothers: Gale Rodgers, Robert Rodgers and Roy Rodgers.
Pauline is survived by her husband of 65 years, Ray Smith; three daughters: Sheri Phillips of Gilbert, Arizona, Cindi Werlinger (Gary) of Gilbert, Arizona, and Paula Amick (James) of Meeker, Colorado; one sister: Janice Scott and husband Ron of Claremore, Oklahoma; two brothers: Paul Rodgers and wife Starrlyt of Topeka, Kansas, and Tommy Rodgers and wife Cindy of Axtell, Texas; nine grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
