MEEKER I The new Pioneers Medical Center Pediatric Care Clinic opened Jan. 7 and has already been serving the community.
Located on the second floor of the Hugus Building at the intersection of Sixth and Main streets, the pediatric clinic will be open every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and every Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
On the first Tuesday of each month, Dr. Lucas Henderson, a pediatrician, will be on-site. The clinic will also be staffed by other PMC family medicine physicians who have received specialty training in pediatrics and adolescent medicine.
The new pediatric clinic offers the most up-to-date developmental screenings and guidance as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatricians (AAP) and follows the gold standard for pediatric and adolescent care.
The physicians at Pioneers Medical Center have partnered with Rocky Mountain Youth Center to develop a pediatrics program for the Meeker community.
“We are excited about this partnership; it allows Pioneers Medical Center to bring better care to our community, but it also give us access to one of the best children’s medical networks,” Dr. Kellie Turner said.
Turner, Dr. Elizabeth Buisker and Dr. Chris Williams will staff the clinic each week and will be joined by Dr. Henderson, whose first visit to Meeker will be Tuesday, Feb. 4.
The clinic is a youth-only (ages birth to 15 years) kid-friendly atmosphere. Children and adolescents can receive their well-child exams, come for a sick visit as well as specialty needs such as asthma, dermatology or development consultations.
“I enjoy working with patients of all ages, but the children hold a special place, which makes me thrilled to be a part of the clinic,” Buisker said.
