MEEKER | PMC officials and staff are exploring options for a new EMR or medical records system/interface. This week board members touched on the pros and cons of the existing system (Athena) and what challenges might result from switching to something new. Chief of Staff Dr. Kellie Turner noted during her staff report that a switch would likely result in some data being lost, and said acclimating to a new EMR might take a while. She also stated medical staff have mixed opinions about the switch.
The new retail pharmacy has passed all of its inspections since opening at the end of May, according to Dr. Turner. The hospital is still working out some kinks associated with administering prescriptions in a small/rural population. Overall, the board and staff spoke positively about the pharmacy Tuesday.
This week the board also received briefings on federal guidelines/compliance and how it affects overall revenue. PMC receives nearly half of all reimbursements from medicare/medicaid, which puts additional emphasis on the importance of compliance.
The next PMC board meeting is set for July 26, 2022
