The Rangely Community Garden will be ready to plant this season and all citizens are welcome to share in the fun. The goals of the garden are to provide garden space for those without, to provide affordable produce to our community, to help establish a farmers’ market in Rangely, to provide soil and gardening classes to our community and surrounding areas, to assist groups such as 4-H, Boy and Girl Scouts, schools, churches and other non-profit organizations in building a better community and to have fun with gardening. Local businesses can also benefit from the garden by using it as a Colorado Cares Project,
Garden spaces or plots will be available to lease for the season, and the price is $60/plot. There is also an option to make three payments of $20 each. The plots are 15×15 and people are welcome to lease more then one plot.
The Rangely Garden Club is having a spring sign-up meeting on April 14, at 7 p.m. in the CNCC banquet room. The meeting is a ’Kick-off to spring meeting,’ where the community can learn about the classes being offered, lease plots and/or sign up to work the community part of the garden. The work consists of fundraising, farmers’ market, as well as marketing work. There is also a need for administration, contractors and maintenance personnel. Free produce and gardening classes are given to those willing to participate as a worker. The meeting will give people the opportunity to ask questions and get involved with a great summer activity. Bill Ekstrom will be present to offer fun gardening tips.
