RANGELY | The Rangely High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter showcased its business acumen at the district competition Monday, with several students earning top placements and qualifying for the state competition in April.
Afton Robertson led the way with a first-place finish in computer applications, while James Talbot took second in computer problem solving. Aivia Green placed first in healthcare administration, with Rachel Elder close behind in third. Jarvis Jensen won first in networking infrastructures, and Zoie Britt placed second in organizational leadership. Matthew Morgan demonstrated his financial skills with a second-place finish in personal finance, while Paytin Kendall placed second in public policy and advocacy. Emmeree Wagner took second in word processing, followed by Addison Thayn in third. Haiden Garcia and Addison Thayn teamed up for a second-place finish in broadcast journalism.
Other notable achievements included Aubrianna Tapia’s second-place finish in agribusiness, Gracie Varner’s second-place finish in human resource management, and the team of Jarvis Jensen, Nick Larsen, and James Talbot placing second in management information systems.
Several teams also earned recognition. Falon Gilbert and Josie Hamblin placed fifth in hospitality and event management, while Aivia Green, Jasmine Preciado, and Aspen Steele placed 10th. Addison Scott, Aubrianna Tapia, and Kaelyn Geer finished eighth in public service announcement. Clay Allred, Matthew Morgan, and Aren Robertson placed seventh in sales presentation, while Emmeree Wagner and Emma Winder took ninth. Zoie Britt and Paytin Kendall teamed up for fourth place in social media strategies, while Courtney Casto and Afton Robertson placed sixth in graphic design.
Additional individual results included Kaelyn Geer (seventh, business communications), Josie Hamblin (ninth, business communications), Clay Allred (seventh, financial math), Taya Wren (eighth, financial math), Falon Gilbert (10th, human resource management), Taylor Fouch (10th, introduction to business communication), Cutler Mergelman (10th, introduction to FBLA), Nick Larsen (ninth, computer problem solving), and Addison Scott (fifth, word processing).
Students who placed fourth or higher in their respective events will advance to the state FBLA competition in April. The Rangely community congratulates these students on their impressive achievements and wishes them success at the state level.
