RANGELY I The Rangely High School girls’ basketball team played an extremely tough Paonia team and came up short, but they look forward to two home games this weekend as they host Hotchkiss on Friday night and Caprock Academy on Saturday.
Both games are important and extremely winnable for the Panthers.
Rangely hosted Paonia, and the defense they are known for seemed to be a factor in the game. The Panther girls trailed Paonia 17-6 after the first quarter and by 37-9 at the half.
The girls made some great defensive adjustments at the half and the played the Eagles much better in the second half.
Katelynn Brown led the scorers with eight, followed by Lindzey Thacker with seven. Thacker also led rebounders with five.
The team is back to work as they prepare for Hotchkiss and Caprock and hope to increase offensive efficiency.
