The Rangely Panthers boys basketball matched up for a pair of tough league games last weekend. The weekend started with a bus ride to Plateau Valley on Friday. The Plateau Valley Cowboys came out of the gate with guns blazing, outscoring the Panthers considerably in the first half. The Panthers regrouped at half-time and played even through the remainder of the game but it was too little too late, and the
Panthers fell to the Cowboys 35-62.
Senior Andrew Dorris led the Panthers in scoring, followed closely by Kevin Wren, Fisher Winder and Marcos Quintana. Saturday, the Panthers got to match up with Vail Mountain at home. The first half was a close game, with the Panthers leading the first quarter but Vail leading at the half. The Panthers came out of the locker room swinging, going on a run to gain the lead. However, Vail Mountain responded and found themselves on top when the final buzzer sounded, topping the Panthers 47-54. Senior Fisher Winder had the hot hand and led the Panthers scoring.
