RANGELY I The Rangely Panthers lost a hard fought game against No. 3 ranked Vail Christian last Thursday. Head coach Ryan Wilkie pointed out that several players had good games including Timothy Scoggins, Byron Mackay and Wyatt Wiley defensively.
“Up front we did a great job of slowing down a very potent offense, and we were able to hold them to a season low scoring. Unfortunately we didn’t capitalize on some of our opportunities offensively, and turned the ball over to start the second half, just things you can’t do against a team like Vail Christian,” Wilkie said. “I think our mental toughness is improving, and we are starting to reach our potential, which has been our goal for the season. If we can do that, we will see where it takes us.”
The Panthers host the Hayden Tigers this Friday in a game that will very likely have playoff implications for both teams on the line.
