RANGELY I With the slogan, “Plan, Prepare, Protect,” the group’s mission is to “…develop individual, family, and community preparedness; to provide assistance and relief to Rangely area residents in the event of disaster or infrastructure collapse; to educate, protect, strengthen, and provide planning and resources for critical needs such as power, water, food, medical care, and wastewater to support the community.”
Attorney Kelly Clark is preparing IRS 501(c)(3) compliant documents for non-profit status along with an initial organizational structure with assistance from temporary directors Elaine Urie, Jane Pennell, Heather Fitzpatrick, Mark Stamos and Susie Berardi.
Organizing into teams by skills and knowledge, and looking forward to trainings so they can be prepared to assist neighbors, community members, and area residents within a 60-mile radius, members are learning about the structure and organization of assistance teams by reading Michael Mabee’s “The Civil Defense Book: Emergency Preparedness for a Rural or Suburban Community.”
